Formatting.
To do it with a CD, you would need a self booting CD that contains the
format command. This would usually be a restore type CD such as the one that Compaq provides with their PCs. The usual way of formatting involves using a startup floppy disk. For information on installing W98, go to: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Jesse" wrote in message ... Make a bootable floppy with the CD rom drivers, and mscdex.exe on it. Put fdisk and format on it also. Boot the disk, format the hard drive if needed. Access the CD rom, run setup.exe . OR I have reinstalled OSes by removing the hard drive from the machine, connect the hard drive to another machine, and then reformat the drive if needed, and make it bootable into DOS. Copy the contents of the CD to the hard drive, then put the hard drive back. Now just boot and run setup.exe . |
