Default Formatting.

I'm trying to format Windows 98 and install a fresh
copy..how do I do this with the cd?

To do it with a CD, you would need a self booting CD that contains the
format command. This would usually be a restore type CD such as the one
that Compaq provides with their PCs.

The usual way of formatting involves using a startup floppy disk. For

There are generic CD rom drivers on the net for DOS. Make a bootable floppy
with the CD rom drivers, and mscdex.exe on it. Put fdisk and format on it
also. Boot the disk, format the hard drive if needed. Access the CD rom,
run setup.exe .

OR

I have reinstalled OSes by removing the hard drive from the machine, connect
the hard drive to another machine, and then reformat the drive if needed,
and make it bootable into DOS. Copy the contents of the CD to the hard
drive, then put the hard drive back. Now just boot and run setup.exe .
