Download the required driver packages for both the USB and the printer, and
save them to CD or the hard disk. The USB drivers will probably come from
the motherboard or system manufacturer, unless you have installed an add-on
USB controller. The printer drivers will come from the printer
manufacturer. Make sure you get the correct version for your OS in both
cases.

Delete the printer, and uninstall the USB controller. If there is a package
of support programs for the printer, uninstall them. These are the programs
that do things like advising you of the cartridge status or providing voice
messages when the printer is out of paper. If there are any uninstallable
'drivers' for the printer, uninstall them.

Then re-install the USB controller, and test it with a USB device such as a
memory stick that you know works with W98, or perhaps something simpler like
a mouse. When you know that USB is working, install the printer, being
careful to follow the manufacture's instructions. For instance, you will
probably be told to install the software before connecting the printer, or
you may be told to connect the printer but only turn it on when instructed.

Default usbprint software uninstalled

Got it Jeff,
I think the issue is somebody has uninstalled my USB driver. It starts
when I have "unconnect" my printer for repair. And somebody tried to
replace the printer. When I came back with the old printer,I got below
error message :

Writing error to LPT1
The error occurred while transmitting the document to the printer.
Please is the printer cable connected, and confirm whether the printer is
online.
clicked retry, the print is continued.
When five seconds pass, it is automatically retried.

I'm sure the USB driver is lost or uninstalled. But now I have no any CD ROM
for installation of USB driver software.Does the removed software or
uninstalled
software can still be retrieved in my harddisk.

Last time it seems the installed USB driver is Sony. But not sure. And
sorry,what
do you mean in below line

. Make sure you get the correct version for your OS in both
cases.

Thank's in advanced

Shiro

The drivers for your USB controller will be available form the www site of
the hardware manufacturer. If the USB is installed on the motherboard then
that will be the motherboard manufacturer. If your USB is provided by an
add-on card then the manufacturer of the card will have the drivers for it.

When you find the drivers for your USB controller, there will be multiple
versions available. Make sure you get the version that applies to Windows
98. Versions for Widows XP (for instance) will not work for Windows 98.
