Default Upgrade Windows 98

Can I upgrade Windows 98 to anything. even Windows 98SE?
At the computer store they told me it didn't have the
right chips for an upgrade but I think they just wanted to
sell me a new computer.

If I can upgrade how high can I go?

Thank you

If you could tell us a little bit more about the hardware of your computer,
it would make it easier to respond.

An upgrade to Windows 98SE is probably feasible. An upgrade to Windows XP
definitely depends on what your computer hardware includes. List your
computer specifications and someone here will be able to offer suggestions.

As for W98SE, Microsoft no longer markets it, so it is becoming very
difficult to find. Try EBay, and avoid OEM versions, which cannot be used to
upgrade.

Windows XP includes a program that can be used to evaluate whether or not
your computer can perform well with XP. That program can also be downloaded
from Microsoft, but it is about 40 MB in size, so it would take forever to
download if you have dial-up. Borrow an XP CD from a friend if that is the
case.

Good luck.
