Default Formatting in Win98 w/o CD-ROM

Hey..
Just wondering if there was a way to format my computer (which is
lacking a cd-rom). I have another computer (running on XP).. is there a
way to hook up the other computer and run off of that? I know it can be
done because i brought it someone before and they did it.. (perhaps
w/external cd-rom).. but i don't have that.. so if anyone can help me
that would be greatly appreciated
cheers
Jacqueline

Easiset ways, if not a laptop,

beg borrow or buy a cdrom (start at $10 at my local pc recycler), open the
case and install it to the slave connector of your hard drive, reformat
reinstall etc

or

pull the hard drive, stick it in a computer with a cd rom, format the drive,
copy the cd to a folder on the hard drive, stick it back in your pc and
install from the drive to itself

Is the laptop currently working? If so, check out Direct Cable Connection
in the help file. This would allow you to transfer the CD files to the
laptop and then you could reinstall from the hard drive. Instead of
formatting, you could delete the Windows folder from DOS.
