Win 98 Display Size
I have just had to reinstall Win 98SE on my Dell laptop Latitude CPi A, my
display is now stuck on 16 colours and 640x480 and only fills about half the available screen area,I think it is to do with the drivers for the screen but am not sure if this is the case or where to go to get new ones or to check the type of screen my laptop has, neither do I have the original discs that came with the laptop, lost on a house move, anyone any clues as to what I shoul do |

You need to install the drivers for the video card. |

The problem isn't likely the monitor, it's the video. I know that sounds
goofy when you see it written down, but the "video" circuitry isn't part of the monitor, it's part of the motherboard. You'll want to review the list of drivers, etc., he http://support.dell.com/support/down...os=W98&osl=EN# (If that link gives problem, use http://tinyurl.com/b7eqg) Video drivers are way down at the bottom. One, the "NeoMagic NM2200", is the video driver set you want first, the other one, called "Margi Magic DVD" is to support DVD movie playback. There are, of course, lots of other drivers at that page that should interest you. As for determining exactly what hardware you have, try Everest Home Edition from http://www.lavalys.com/ Your biggest immediate problem is to get the video drivers installed. Here's the direct link to the EXE file you need to run in order to fix that: http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/NEOW9806.EXE -- Gary S. Terhune MS-MVP Shell/User "Billyboy" wrote in message ... For my Inspiron laptop, there is a CD entitled: Drivers, Utilities and
Applications ....With all my desktop Dells, I have received a resource CD which contains various drivers. You have to install the Resource CD and then open it and search for video display drivers. If you do not have either CD, check the Dell website for downloadable drivers for your video card. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Billyboy" wrote in message ... Thank you very much for the advice, I followed it and it works, my screen is
back to normal with Windows! Billyboy "Gary S. Terhune" wrote: The problem isn't likely the monitor, it's the video.
