Autodown Error in KRNL386.EXE
Got a really strange error......
"Autodown caused an error in KRNL386.EXE and will close my browser"......everything froze. There were lost file fragments, which happens, on reboot. A strange thing I have noticed in the past few weeks is for instance, when I use Google on my home page, the Search box at the top of IE indents as if I clicked on it......and when I rebooted tonight, a Zone Alarm box appeared briefly in my bottom bar. Almost like watching a *player piano* doing these things on their own.....can't explain it any better at 1 am. Bear in mind that my ISP has joined up with Yahoo and it is a real mishmash at the moment. I have been back and forth with them due to my old bugbear about the Yahoo Toolbar mucking up WinME. Apparently they are also having problems with WinME and Parental Controls. This tech knows what she is talking about and she advised against downloading their software.....which I wouldn't have done anyway. The toolbar is in there, I assume. They have been touting this "self-healing software" for a while now.....I don't want it near this computer, grin!! I will *heal myself*. Just thought I would write this epistle before heading for bed......grin. Night......Heather |

Autodown is probably your eTrsut AV application attempting to connect to
the net to update itself. Sorry but have nothing constructive to offer about your other problems other than that they sound video driver related. VBG BTW are Yahoo now admitting that their is a problem with their Parental Controls? I seem to recall there was a rash of reports a few weeks ago of users having problems that seemed to be Yahoo Parental Control related. -- Mike Heather wrote: Got a really strange error...... Hi Mike....
"Mike M" wrote in message ... Autodown is probably your eTrsut AV application attempting to connect to the net to update itself. Yes......I realized that after I sent this post. I follow a certain order in shutting down and checked EZ Trust and it had updated, probably when I got that error. Sorry but have nothing constructive to offer about your other problems other than that they sound video driver related. VBG LOL.....I will get to that problem later.....running out to do some genealogy research. BTW are Yahoo now admitting that their is a problem with their Parental Controls? I seem to recall there was a rash of reports a few weeks ago of users having problems that seemed to be Yahoo Parental Control related. YES.......but via my ISP Rogers (now Rogers/Yahoo). This woman/girl knows what she is talking about (and understands my concerns re the Msvcrt.dll error and Yahoo Toolbar)...... quote..... Thank you for your feedback and clarification. M/E is a bit problematic; we find that the Parental Contols won't work on it either. unquote....... Cheers......running off as I am forever late for everything!! g Heather/Figgs Heather wrote: Got a really strange error...... Ah ... sorry. Didn't find anything on AUTODOWN being part of EZ-Trust. All
I saw were the virus/trojan warnings. -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Win9x] * PLEASE post all messages and replies in the newsgroups * for the benefit of all. Well, I was using 6.0.1?? until it decided to stop updating itself last
month and always returning an error much as if I no longer had a valid licence. Same behaviour even on a clean install. I never liked the 6.1 version so jumped to using the newer 6.2.0.28 which works and updates itself without problem. autodown.exe is part of the 6.2 family. Cheers, -- Mike Richard G.
