Default tcp/ip port

Ivan:

I how I can create a tcp/ip port in Win98 for a network printer?

Not sure if this will help but may point you in the right direction.
I have an HP printer on the W2K system here, wanted to be able to
access it from the W98SE system.

It said it needed a driver. Went to the HP site, downloaded the
printer utilities for both Consumer and Corporate users, the latter
more or less on a whim: the Consumer version seemed to imply it was
for a stand-alone system, or at least the printer was local. The
Corporate version seemed to imply networks. LIS, I downloaded both
while I was there.

Installed the corporate version, which for some reason took quite a
while so plan to read a couple of chapters in a book or go watch TV.
The installation guide took care of the the necessary connections. The
only real decision I had to make was to tell it to use LPT2 (I already
have a local printer on LPT1). FWIW the port/network channel is
listed as "LPT2: \\W2K\HP_940C" (computer name and printer name).

Barry,

Please respond to a post within the thread rather than posting a new thread.
