CDR & CDRW not accessible
My CDR and CDRW used to work fine. Neither can be accessed
now - all I get is a message saying "[drive] not accessible; device not ready". This has been a gradual process, certainly as far as the CDRW is concerned. Originally it would read and write. Then it stopped writing CDRW, then, from time to time, it stopped writing CDR. Latterly, it stopped writing altogether. Finally, it stopped reading music CDs. Now neither will do anything. My CDR gives the above error immediately I try to access it. The CDRW whirrs away for 30 seconds and then gives the error. Device Manager insists that both devices are working properly. Nevertheless, I removed both devices using Device Manager and rebooted. This has not helped although, strangely, if I do this while my CDRW has a disk in it, the disk can be read immediately after the reboot. This, however, is a "one-off" success. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank. |
