Yes. I'd mercifully forgotten about that! I just reminded myself why I don't see MS being relevant to humanity anymore, regardless of how good the next OS could be. Bit like our Government regardless of the occasional good it does. Might as well be addressing rocks on Mars. Oh so very true. Governments! Who needs 'em? There is a lack of perspective to your thinking if you believe that your awe at 21st century Windows is a reflection of the advance in Vista. By no means is my opinion to be meant as far reaching as you imply, Shane,
to the contrary: I apologize for having created that impression. It is merely subjective. Hopefully we can both benefit from the positive attributes of 'everything'. I prefer to see the water glass 'half full' instead of 'half empty', even though 'technically' it doesn't make any difference. Why did they call it 'Vista', btw.? Harry. I'm sure I did once upon a time, but if I did, it's gone. But seeing as how fond of naming pre-release Windows versions after local mountains, maybe they consciously or unconsciously invoked the experience of being at the top of one! Seems to me 'Panorama' is a more dramatic term though; 'Vista' sounds tame by comparison. But seeing as how long the BBC current affairs program 'Panorama' has been running over here, calling the OS that wouldn't have really worked. They should have called it 'Futurama'. They could have had Bender as the animated Search character. Shane "Bite my translucent Aero Glass!" |

Thanks for the info. But I want to download the "updates" from the website, not Windows Updates. I am reinstalling my friends WinME operating system but she has no internet connection. I want to download at my house and put on disc to take there. Why not bring your friend's computer to the Internet? I did that for a friend; had her bring her computer over here. I've got an extra monitor (or three; two Sony Bravia LCD TVs with 15-pin video in for PC graphics outputs), and a spare keyboard, mouse, and power cable (more, really). She only needed to bring the box. -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys. |
