Default Trouble upgrading from Me to XP

I get this error message: "An error occurred copying file xptht29D.jpg to
C:\$WIN_NT$~LS\I386\xptht29D.jp_"
I clicked on ignore to try and install without that file, but continued to
get the error message with the number changing from 29D through 33D before I
just stopped. Is there anything I can do to complete the upgrade?

A pretty good place to start would be by posting to a newsgroup supporting
XP rather than one supporting Win Me since the problem is with the XP
installation and not Win Me.

Your error could be caused by something as simple as your XP CD being
dirty, Try cleaning it and running the upgrade again. The XP i386 folder
contains 109 files whose names match the template xptht???.??_ with ???.??
running from 00D.gi_ to 81D.jp_ In an alphabetic listing of the folder
there are only 12 files after this set. None of these files are critical
to the operation of XP, in fact none of the expanded files even exist on
any of my XP systems, but could nevertheless be required by the installer
to illustrate an option during the installation.

If cleaning your XP CD doesn't help I would persist with the install and
try skipping over the 109 files. You have little to lose, the step you
are seeing is where the files are being copied from the CD to the hard
disk at the start of the upgrade.
