Default Manually arranging items in a folder

I have saved photes in a folde rand I want to arrange them my way but the
computer will not let me. I can arrange by date, name etc. and auto arrange
but not manually. When I try to arrange them the way I want it just goes back
to the organal arrangement when the folder is closed. Is there anyone who
knows how to arrange files manually and having them staly that way in a
folder. I have already tried renameingall the photos so they could be arraned
by name but that did not turn out.
I am working with windows ME
Thanks

Hmmm, good question. I have tons of them myself and have not even named
them......so puzzled on this.

Why not do this. Put a number FIRST on the title of the photo. And arrange
them that way. Such as.....

1. Bob Smith
2. Alan Whozit.
3. Casey the Cat

Just might work. This way you can name them whatever you want and they
should fall into numerical order.

Let me know how it works.

Cheers.....Heather

if you don't have a million photos, move them to a tmep directory then
move them back one by one in the order you want them... then sort on date.

Dana

Rename the files:

001 My cat
002 My cat close up
003 My cat with a ball
004 ..... etc................

Do not omit the leadiing zeros.
Then arrange by name.

Hope this helps.

That is a better way. Mine are all numbered after the name.....as in 001,
002, etc. Putting the 3 digit number at the beginning is the best way.

I tried doing them in numerical order, I too thought this would be a good way to do it but when I got to the teen's it started puting the teen's behind the one and before the two. I guess becouse of the one in front of the teens, if that makes any sence. Thanks for the suggustion though.

Thanks I will try this to see if it works. Hopefully putting the two zeros in front of the numbers will help. Thanks again

Hi Dana

Rename as 01, 02 .. 09, 10 etc. or if you have to 001, 002 .. 009, 010 etc
to get over the numerical problem

A common mistake that people made when trying to design something completely
foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
