Would you guys be able to direct me/us to any web sites/pages or tutorials
on "everything you need to know about producing your own web site"
for beginners.
And would you have any advise or wisdom on the matter.

Many thanks Steve (and Beryl)

of tutorial.

Do they use the term "Janet and john" book 2 where you come from.

Many thanks Steve (and Beryl)

There's no real group on these servers for HTML (or other web languages)
learning really. There's a number of decent forums.

So, not wanting to leave you stranded...

Here's an interesting HTML editing tool:

Downloads - Evrsoft:
http://www.evrsoft.com/download.shtml

It's free but, more importantly, it has some great help files in it. On top
of that there's likely a link in there to the forum (probably added by
default to your favorites during the installation if you ask it to do so)
where you can ask a bunch of questions. I do have an Web Development section
in my forum but, well, it's not open yet.

I think back to the days when I was first learning and I found that the best
way was to find a site that I liked, right click, read the source, and then
(yes) copy it. After I'd copy it I'd play around with it. It's great because
you can just set notepad as your editor, edit away, press CTRL + S to save,
and then refresh the piece you're working on to see the changes. I learned a
great deal that way actually. It even helps with some of the scripting that
I've learned, download a free script that does sort of what you're looking
for and then learn to make your modifications from there.

There's a bunch of free tools that you might be interested in.
