Default Office plug ins

For several years now, I have had a problem concerning
Office Plug Ins. (I am not sure exactly what they are.)
but with Norton AntiVirus programs prior to 2003 I had to
enter this command
"C:\Windows\System\Regsvr32" -U "C:\Program Files\Norton
AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll"

With Norton AntiVirus 2003 and 2004 I have to uncheck
Enable Office Plug Ins.

The reason I have to do this is because with every WORD
document I open I get a message requesting virus scan.
Norton never finds any virus.

I believe at one time Microsoft made some alteration to my
Works Suite but I do not remember the whys and
whereforesbut I think this may have had some bearing on
this problem. I believe it had something to do with the
Word ad-ins. Can anyone explain?

Since RJK likes Norton so much, I will allow him to explain.

IIRC Symantec had a problem with a certificate approx 4-5 mos. back and it caused
that very same issue which also caused the programs to take decades to open. I
believe they have cleared it up in an update which I suspect you already have. I have
a link to the article they had on it but it appears they pulled from their support
site and is no longer available. Perhaps they ran into the same or similar problem
again.
