Help!! Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card and win 98, ......Am I SOL?
Please help.
I just got an Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card,Model SB0570. When I got it home,I noticed it said Windows 2000(SP4),XP(SP2), or XP professional X64. I was going to take it back, but I called a computer shop and asked them, and he said I should be able to find drivers on the Internet for 98. These are the names of the drivers I tried, I tried SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_0016 Also tried AUDLS_PCDRV_LB_1-02-00 but when I went to install them, it said I needed windows 2000 or better. Also tried,I did find this one,SBA2_PCWDRV_LB_1_84_55-R1 that said it was for (Copy and pasted from web site) Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2/Audigy 2 ZS Driver (Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP) 5/12/2005 But it also said I needed windows 2000 or better. I am still looking, but not having any luck. Am I SOL and stuck with a $30.00 sound card? thanks, Tony |

I have a Creative Audigy2 Sound Blaster card as well as an Audigy2 Platinum (I have yet to install them in a system). I believe that both cards came out in 2002. I think that both cards are the same, except the platinum comes with a 5.25" drive-bay-mounted interface/control panel, and some sort of remote control. On the box of both, Win98se is listed as a compatible OS, and drivers for Win98se are listed as included. Sometimes ME drivers will work when you don't have Win-98 drivers. |

Did you check out the Creative web site for the drivers?

news:VlOah.14716$JQ.53@trnddc06... I just got an Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card,Model SB0570. When I got it home,I noticed it said Windows 2000(SP4),XP(SP2), or XP professional X64. . . . These are the names of the drivers I tried, . . . Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2/Audigy 2 ZS Driver (Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP) 5/12/2005 But it also said I needed windows 2000 or better. It appears only a single model of Audigy card (i.e. 24-bit) has drivers to run under Win98SE. The information is on the Creative web site but I did not find it until I asked directly and got a prompt reply 26 April 2006: The Audigy 2 Value is not supported in Windows 98SE. The only new 24 Bit sound card we are selling currently that is supported in Windows 98SE is the Audigy 2ZS Platinum. We do have some Audigy 2ZS refurbished cards on our Ebay store that are supported in Windows 98SE. This is a two-card array, with added external "drive" for multimedia or game functions. The ext. drive is very poorly documented, i.e. Creative nowhere says what it is supposed to do, nowhere describes functional setups with and without the various components. The worst feature of this sound card is that its driver CD (including Win98SE drivers) is copy-proofed against piracy, thus often misreads during installation. (There is a visible mark on the CD that Creative told me is a feature, not a manufacturing defect.) I never succeeded in installing only the functions I planned to use, and removed the cards when by chance I found an adequate 24-bit card elsewhere. I would welcome extra information about the various hardware and software components of the Audigy 2ZS system. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

I'm not very familiar with the Audigy line, but there appears to be an Audigy and Audigy2 line. Is the "Audigy SE" part of the Audigy2 family, or can it use Audigy2 drivers? |

Return the card and purchase one that is compatible with 98/SE. It will be highly
remotely lucky if you ever come across drivers/firmware/software for that card to work in 98/SE. -- Brian A. Think I got "apples and orange's" As long as Walmart will take it back even though it's opened. Tony |
