Default Trend Micro Housecall

From: "Malcolm"

| Hi Folks,
|
| I am trying to run Housecall on my Windows ME machine and it just
| stalls with "Undefined" in the status bar. I have been running it for
| several months without any problems. This just started about a week
| ago. Any help would be appreciated.
|
| Thanks
|

| Malcolm

You mayu wish to try my My Multi AV Scanning Tool which incorporates the Trend Micro ysclean
utility which uses the same engine and pattern file as the web site but does not require the
use of a web browser. It also incorporates the anti virus scanners of; McAfee, Sophos and
Kaspersky

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm

| The only choice I have on the Windows ME box is Java.

Remove the version of Sun Java you have installed and re-install it or the latest version,
version 5 update 8.

Default Trend Micro Housecall

Hello, Malcolm!
You wrote on Tue, 05 Sep 2006 02:35:08 GMT:

M I have tried version 5 update 8 and version 5 update 6. I cannot get
M either one to work. I get to step 2 on the scan process where it says
M "scanning your computer" and the status bar show "undefined" or "done"
M and it just hangs there.

I had a similar problem with TrendMicro once. It's working now. But I
remember trying Pandaware's online scan as an alternative; that worked.

| Thanks I guess I will have to try alternate virus checkers and see if
| that fixes the problem.

It won't "fix" the problem Malcolm, it will bypass the problem.

Panda has an excellent online scanner.
