Hi Brian,

Just tried the link, and it's not working. A temporary thing?

Thanks, Brian.

news Glen,

It looks like you're right again - I uninstalled the Norton Internet
Security 2005 successfully, and my error went away, and all was right with
the world. Then, during an incredible lapse in judgement, I re-installed
it.
Not only, did it cause massive problems (blue screen, invalid page fault in
ASCOMPBR.DLL and KERNEL32.DLL), now I have no Internet connectivity, and it
will not let me un-install it. I think the firewall has shut down all
outside connections - I can't connect my laptop to it anymore, and any
attempt to browse gives me the page can't be found (I can, however, ping
web
sites from a DOS prompt).

Will the Symantec link provide enough info to get it re-un-installed (for
good!)

Thanks for all your help.

I only
know one person who has gotten NIS 2005 to work correctly on
Win98....and
he
can't
figure out how he got that lucky. It has been causing problems for
nearly
every
Win98 user who tries it.

If that isn't myself, then now you know 2.
Even though it runs without a hitch on one of my 98SE machines ( the
only
one I
attempted to install it on ), I wouldn't recommend installing it on any
98
OS
for many reasons, one being the "Ball Hog" that it is.

I still only know one....it's you I was referring to, Brian. ;-)

I am currently using a free anti-virus, Avast (www.avast.com) and I
find
it to
be
excellent.....and the price is right! ;-)

That's what I use on the other 98SE machines and so far have not one
complaint.

It was a quick toss together as I felt the need for so many users to have quick
access instead of muddling their way thru Sym's site. Have some cleanup to do
with it, in time as permitted. Tough enough with all else and cleaning up the
entire site since I have recently started converting to CSS.
