Otherwise you're just going to have to pick "Windows Update" from the Start Menu and do it that way. If you have cable or DSL it doesn't take that long. However if you are on dialup, then be prepared to spend a loooooong time. -- -- Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone somewhere may be happy. -- |

Hi,
I have dialup. No, I do not have the update CD that Microsoft was giving away. I did not know that they were. I did not know that there was such a thing. I sure wish I knew about the Update CD. It looks like I will have to set aside a day or two to do the job. Will I be able to get all the updates when I click on the Window Updates? Or will I have to go to another website to get them? Hi Brian,
You said that I may need to extract it if it is a compressed .zip or ..exe. Where do I extract it to? Do I extract it to another file or in the same file? Hi Brian, You said that I may need to extract it if it is a compressed .zip or .exe. Where do I extract it to? Do I extract it to another file or in the same file? Please explain Thanks, Angel Please ignore Brian's advice as 99% of the updates at WinUP site will be self extracting/installing executables which should NOT be extracted by the typical user at all. You download the files to a local folder of your choice, save the entire folder of updates to CD by what ever method your CD software allows. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323166 http://www.cdrfaq.org/ |

My advice had nothing to do with MS Updates, only downloaded files that =
are compressed in general. I wasn't even thinking of the updates being = dl'd from there. True the files that can be downloaded from the MS = Update site are self extracting/installing. The files that she wants to = download from the site and burn to disk can be saved to the HD and then = burned to disk. If that is what she wanted, then by all means ignore my = earlier advice. --=20 Brian A. Conflicts start where information lacks. http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Lee" wrote in message = om...
