Default Reinstalling WinME

Is it possible to partition my HD, reinstalling WinME on the new partition,
then shift the program files I have on the HD over to the new partition and
finally remove the old partition? Or am I just dreaming?

I just hate taking it somewhere and getting every program and file I have on
it removed and then put back on it after reformatting the HD and
reindtalling WinME. Also, I am afraid of not getting some of the programs
back up and running otherwise.

Any suggestions?

PS... I am not a total rookie, probably know just enough to get into trouble
without proper guidance.

Thanks in advance,
CT

A loaded question but... Your last point is the real sting in the tail.

Even if you were able to do what you wanted (and, with 3rd party software,
you could 'ish') the flaw in your dream is in expecting the 'programs' to
suddenly start working again.

They would ALL need to be re-installed, just as WinMe would need
re-installing.

Maybe it's not relevant, but you don't say why you want to shift WinMe to a
new partition - and you would (normally) have to install on the C: partition
anyway. So that essentially rules out that idea.

Perhaps a second HD (they're not very expensive), or burning a back-up copy
of the contents (Specifically data) of your existing HD to a CD (very
inexpensive if you've already got a burner) should be considered.

Good luck
