Default Invalid Product Key

I am re-installing the retail version of Win 98 and am to
the point where it asks for the product key. When I enter
it, I get an error stating that it is not valid. The only
tech article mentioning this problem says to do things
that don't apply to my system. Why is the once valid PID
suddenly invalid??? How do I get it to be valid again?

Kevin, product keys do not "go invalid". I have an original Windows 98 disc
with the product key on the sleeve and it worked fine last week when I
needed to reinstall it.

A common mistake is misreading the product key - mistaking "0" for "O" and
so on. Another common mistake is using the wrong key (OEM key on a retail
CD and vice versa).
