Default help, I can not update my drivers.

I had to re-install the operating system (ME). I forgot
to back up my drivers. My system has a Samsung SM-304B
CD/DVD Combo drive. I can not get the drive to play DVD's.

What I've done: Downloaded unknown device detector to
assist in re-installing drivers. Downloaded all Windows
updates.

I have tried going into Device Manager to update the
driver, but it tells me I have the most current version
(MSCDROM.INF release date 6.8.2000 from microsoft).

By using the windows updates/unknown device detector, I
have been able to download the current driver, but I
have'nt been able to tie it to the device.

The 'update driver' function of Device Manager will not
allow me tie it to the new driver...even when I use
the 'select the location of the driver' function. As I
said earlier, using the default of 'scan my computer for
the most current driver' results in it telling me that I
have the most current driver installed.

Help. What do I do??

Thanks for your help.

Default

WindowsMe does not include the ability to play DVD movies unless a 'helper'
file is installed to allow it to do so. This helper file usually comes with
a DVD movie playback package.
