Default split drives

I HAD TO FORMAT MY C: DRIVE AND THEN REINSTALLED WIN ME.
FOR SOME REASON I NOW HAVE A C: DRIVE AND A D; DRIVE AND
MY CD DRIVE WHICH IS NOW CALLED E:
HOW DO I GET BACK TO HAVING ONLY MY MAIN C
: DRIVE AND MY CD DRIVE RETUTNED TO D:?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT MAY HAVE
HAPPENED OR AT LEAST HOW TO GET MY SYSTEM BACK TO THE WAY
IT WAS.
