Default Connect Phone with Modem

Sorry to ask this question in ME NG but.......

I have Intel HaM Data/Fax/Voice 56K v90 PCI modem with four ports.
1- LINE - on which phone line attached, using net, working fine.
2- PHONE - attached standard phone, no result. what's the purpose of this
port?
3&4 - SPK, MIC - attached headset, no result.

I want to use this modem as a standard phone, so I can send/receive calls
from other phones while NOT connected to internet. Do I need a software?
Will bitware do the job? What is use of Phone Dialer?

I did some searching without luck. mostly describing technically which I
cant understand. If possible recommend good site for more info. Manual
gives only tech info.

You can only use your modem as a voice phone or speakerphone if it supports
this type of operation. If it does, the software CD that comes with the
modem will usually contain a very basic software package to do this, and the
manual (or online help at the manufacturer's Web site) will definitely say
so and you'll need to buy your own software.

Minor linguistic error - that should read "... will usually contain a very
basic software package to do this, OR the manual ...)". Not AND. Sorry.
