format a hard drive from Me to Xp.
I see you have answers from Mike but I'll tell you my experience.
My machine came with XP pre-installed but due to a few problems I decided to put my own retail copy of XP on, it also had the D partition with the factory recovery image. My thinking was that after booting from the XP CD, formatting and clean installing would wipe out that partition also, it didn't but as it only takes up a small amount of space on an 80 GB drive I left things as they were and don't have any problems. Joan Explorer wrote: Sorry i got the boot disk point, my other point was the machine i use at the moment has a partioned hard drive C and D how do i get rid of the partition D? if i format c will it do both? (D which has a system restore to enable the original factory settings) or if format c and use the xp disc will it overwrite the D partion? |
