Default Video card?

I have a problem, but I don't know if it's my video card
or what. When I open most windows, I have to minimize
them and then restore them to see what's in them. Same
thing to scroll down a page. Someone told me I need a new
video card, but then someone else told me I may need to
update the driver. How do I know what kind of video card
I have? In the control panel, system, device manager,
under sound, video, and game controllers, there's nothing
that looks like a video card, it seems to be all for
sound. The only things there a PCI Audio Legacy
device, CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio device, DOS Mode MPU-401
Emulator, Gameport Joystick and Wave device for voice
modem (this has a yellow ! mark by it). Please help me!

You can see the installed devices by doing Start /
Settings / Control Panel / System / Device Manager. The
video card driver is listed under Video Adapter. This
might or might not match the actual installed hardware -
if it isn't a correct match that could explain your
problem, or perhaps you need a driver update anyway.
There are free utilities that can identify the installed
card (eg, Sandra) or you can open the machine and look
inside or check the original invoice or look at the
manufacturer's www site to get the hardware configuration
or perhaps the machine was supplied with a hardware
diagnostic/inventory utility.
