Virus?
Thanks for your suggestion. I've done adaware/spyware. It clears it and
then when I go back online it pops up once again. "Ewa Wdzieczak-Smering" wrote: Erica wrote: A link was clicked on and now I have an unwanted website popping up and trying to dial into my modem ( I use dsl) It places a short-cut on my desk top and my start menu. I've run virus, trojan you name it programs to try to locate the original source. If I go to properties on the short cut it says its located in the Windows video viewer folder. I deleted the folder, uninstalled the program via install/ unintall it appears to be gone.. When I'm online after a short time again it pops up a website and tries to access my modem. I'm at a loss as to where to look further. Any suggestions are appreciated. Looks like your PC needs a serious adware/spyware cleanup. Try installing a tool called ADAWARE and run the search on your workstation. Good luck! Ewa |

It's an illicit website and it creates the folder and shortcuts on its own.
It send a pop up of a website to the window and a smaller box asking for you to allow it to dial in through your modem. Of course whether or not you click "ok" or attempt to "x" it, it continues to boot me offline. There must be soemthing planted someplace to trigger the site.
