Too Many .jpg File Types???
Hello.
When I am in Windows Explorer, and do View-Folder Optiond-File Types, it seems like there are too many File Types for .jpg files. There are 4 and I have Attached the dialog box. It seems like to me there should be one. Can you explain this to me. Thanks. Jeff Turner Gates Mills, Ohio |

Look at all of the four, see if they cover the same extensions?
You can then edit the file type, and edit the program used for the = "open" action. Internet Explorer will work for .jpg files (although = under "JPEG file" there could be some more extensions, not all of which = IE might be able to handle). You can specify whichever program you would = like. Also, perhaps you have not properly uninstalled the program = "pictureviewer.exe"? "Jeff Turner" wrote in message = ... file name descriptions are added by software as it creates links, the actual
extensions need not be jpg they could be jpeg jpg jng. If the graphic program you have installed is not well constructed they could even be called 'jpeg files' but be .bmp .gif .jpg ANYthing. when installing Irfanview all the supported image types are changed to "Irfanview ??? file" where ??? is the actual extension, a much easier thing to follow, suggest You try it www.irfanview.com -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Catalog of removal tools http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters "Jeff Turner" wrote in message ... | Hello. | | When I am in Windows Explorer, and do View-Folder Optiond-File Types, it | seems like there are too many File Types for .jpg files. Ivan,
Do you know how I can get the program PictureViewer.exe? It is really weird, they do not have the same extensions. The extensions are jpeg jpg jpe and jfif ?? I looked on Microsoft Downloads, and could not see it? Thanks.
