Upon further review :

1. New! Advanced Email Scanning

It still can not scan within compressed attachments as it claims.
Upon extracting an infected .zip or compressed file however, a
warning message will come up .
The email scanner consumes very few resources . Email scanning is a
debatable practice . If the antivirus program is capable it would
never allow you to open an attachement without bells going off.

2. New! Interactive Virus Detection Messages

Yawn ...

3. New! Scans compressed file archives before you open them and
risk infecting your computer

Same as 1 . It did not detect the Sd.bot.gen in a .zip file on my XP
Pro system. Just try extracting the file, though

4. Automatic updates

Don't know if they've added more servers but, auto update is now
reliable . The definition files are now in modules that are smaller
than the total size of the def files in 6.1 resulting in a faster
download ... this is a good thing for those on dialup.

5. Scans more files than 6.1

Have pasted a couple of scan results to show that v.6.2 now scans
almost all of the files on the system . At first it scanned LESS
files than 6.1 . Must have been a module installed in one of the
updates that now allows this.

eTrust EZ Antivirus Version 6.2.0.24
Started scanning: 12:03:53 PM, 5/13/2004
Dat file v8337
Finished scanning: 12:15:33 PM, 5/13/2004
Number of files scanned: 16391.
Number of files that could not be scanned: 54

eTrust EZ Antivirus Version 6.2.0.24
Started scanning: 12:11:19 PM, 5/22/2004
Dat file v8352
Finished scanning: 12:23:59 PM, 5/22/2004
Number of files scanned: 16391.
Number of files that could not be scanned: 9

So, I'm changing my mind on recommending v.6.2 . The interface is
not easy for some who are less knowledgeable, though. Overall it's
a dependable AV ... not "pretty", but worth the price.

I agree Mow it is a very good AV, and I noticed the downloads where a lot
faster, I'm on dial up. I don't know about auto update as I never give it
a chance even though I have it set to update automatically every 24 hours
the first thing I do in a morning after I connect is click auto download
from the icon in system tray, sorry notification area, g get a new one
every day apart from Saturdays and Sundays usually.

Mow,

Thanks for the update. I noticed your version indicates 6.2.0.24. The GA
release is 6.2.0.28, which CA released about a month
after 6.2.0.24. I don't suspect it will affect the results, but it may be
worth checking.

Just checked and 6.2.0.28 is the one I downloaded last week. I usually use
Mailwasher to download all my email......but one virus email slipped thru
yesterday and EZ Trust nailed it while it was downloading and stripped
Netsky out of the zipped attachment. Plus another one just now.

I was pleasantly surprised by this......particularly as it did NOT throw the
virus into System Restore.......running a scan now and despite it now
catching 2 Netskys, they are not in my _Restore folder.

I was never a fan of scanning downloading emails......all my attachment ones
go into a separate folder. But this seems to be OK.

Just finished the scan.....boy, it took a while and even scanned my D
Drive....something it didn't do before and I will be darned if I can find
where to turn that off. (WinME cab files)

There's not a setting for this that I can find. However, if you select My
Computer rather than an individual drive, it will attempt to scan all
available drives, including any drives with removable media. That's the
only way I know how to do this, so if you locate a setting, let me know.

Thanks, Tom. I never paid any attention to that because another virus email
had downloaded and EZ Trust jumped so I hit Scan....thinking it was for the
virus.....so I know that all 4 gazillion folders are clean. Not saying how
many, cuz Mow has nothing on his computer, compared to mine, grin!! Just
one family tree program is 138 meg. Not to mention about 1,600 mp3's.

Cheers.....Heather

I see now. If you click Scan on the dialog that opens when a virus is
identified, EZ Trust does a full system scan. I've had it identify a couple
of bugs in the Java cache on occasion, but I opted to just clear the cache
after EZ Trust deleted the infected files rather than run a full scan.
All's clean here too.

Figgs ... it scans both Hard Drive and all partitions of both from
XP Pro ... and, believe me, there are quite a few files on both of
them
