Window 98 shutdown error

Lately everytime that I shutdown there is a fatal
exception 0E. and the shut down stops till any key is
pressed, then it will finish the shutdown. The exact
message reads.....
A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C0297948 in VDX
VWIN32(05)+000012D0......
Can anyone tell if this error can be fixed????

Hi Ken,

Your Registry or System Files may have been damaged. Boot to Dos or
use your Win98 Startup diskette and enter Scanreg /restore. Choose
a registry CAB file backup from before the problem started. Reboot.
That will replace registry and system files. If you made any changes
or Windows type installs since that date you will need to do them
again. If no help you can repeat the process and restore your
current files. Windows backs up the files once each day if it is
started and keeps the last 5 backups by default.

Try StartRun and enter Msconfig. Under GeneralAdvanced if you are
using Win98 SE check "disable fast shutdown". If you are using Win98
FE then un-check it. Reboot.

If no help then under the startup tab uncheck any anti-virus
features that start at boot.
