during reboot a line is on top that say error config.sys
line 2 corrupt. whould this have anything to do with my
usb's not responding?

I doubted ...what does line 2 say?

does your USB show any errors in device manager?

The mouse will not work. On boot up I get a message that
says no serial port mouse installed.

As serial mouse uses the serial port, which has nothing to do with USB.

What type of mouse is it? Does it show in Device Manager and are there =
any conflicts?
