Default What loads in Win 98 after vwavsyn.386

I get a failed Win 98 OS load, a flash of a blue screen
with VXD -- (no detail, )and a contstant reboot then after
this program loads.
I cannot stop it with Safe Mode either , it looks just
like the regular mode , fails and recboots.
What loads after this program, and how Can I get it back ??
Thanks !

The problem lies in the Sound driver/software. That is a Creative Labs =
file.
Start up with a boot disk.
At the prompt type below and press Enter after each line:

cd c:
attrib -h -r -s c:\autoexec.bat
ren c:\autoexec.bat autoexec.old
attrib -h -r -s c:\config.sys
ren c:\config.sys config.old

Remove the boot disk
Press ctrl+alt+del to reboot

If this continues with others you have many corrupted/missing driver =
files, that file is for the CD-ROM. I need to ask to be sure. When you =
ran the commands before they completed correctly?

Start the machine without the boot disk. Press and hold down the CTRL =
key immediately after boot at the POST screen where you see the BIOS =
detection of the drives/mouse/kb until you get the Startup Menu.

Select DOS Command Prompt.
At the prompt, type below and press Enter after:

cd c:
dir c:\ /p *note the spaces after dir and before /p
Press Enter to move the screen one page at a time

Do you see an autoexec.bat and config.sys or do you see the renamed =
ones?

*Do not do below if the above shows the original names.*
Another possibility may be that you have a corrupted registry..

At the prompt, type below and press Enter after:
=20
scanreg /restore *note the space before /.

Select a date prior to when the problem began, do not select any RBbad. =
*Note: If you boot/shutdown each new calendar day and the problem is =
more than 5 days old this will do no good.

When finished press ctrl+alt+del to reboot.

Post back with results.

OK Thought we had it - , no crash on the new restore but
it never finished either, now we are back to same old
after vwavsyn.386 the system waits awhile, then after
that - a touch of blue screen, and reboots loop, no help
even with safe mode

To recap Each action entered worked as you asked
No errors, no problems

Though I cannot for the life of me see the Bootlog file ???

I can see config old, config HCC, config nso, config syd
same for autoexec an old, dos, hcc, NSO Nu4,and an 001

I tried a restore I guess I will try another

Any other ideas you are doing great so far !!
