Heres an installing problem some of you will have fun trying to figure out
Something happened to my computer and I can't start up
windows...i have tried everything in all troubleshooting guides and trust me it wont start up. I have the installation disk for W98 and have seen times when the disk was in if I wanted to boot from disc. Now i want to boot from disc and im not being asked to. I have gone into command prompt and tried searching all directories and I can find my CD drive. So it seems I can't get into my installaton disc and I dont care about anything on the computer so if I am required to clear everything from the computer before installing I am open to it. HAVE FUN and thanks. |

I'm not sure I understand the problem, but I think you are saying that the
boot to hard disk does not give you access to the CD drive for re-installing Windows. You should not boot to hard disk to re-install Windows. Get a utility for creating a boot floppy at www.bootdisk.com and create a floppy and boot to it. Note the letter assigned to the CD (probably R). Insert the CD and install Windows from the CD. If the system won't boot to floppy then access BIOS setup and make sure that the floppy disk drive is set first in the boot sequence. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Duck Sauce" wrote in message ... okay.... it kinda sounds like u have an older
computer..... try booting off a windows 98 startup disk with cdrom suport. If there is no luck there, go into your bois, and change the boot sequence to cdrom (or the ltter of your cdrom) (drive) (drive) then try to boot offa the cd.. good luck, Bill -----Original Message----- Something happened to my computer and I can't start up windows...i have tried everything in all troubleshooting guides and trust me it wont start up.
