Default WAOL IPFs in GDI32.dll

Old W98SE box and AOL (I know, I know...) ver 8.0Plus.
Surfing and e-mailing OK. But, when closing the app, the
beginning setup pg comes up as normal, system is freezing
for about 1 min, then it IPFs in KERNEL32.dll.
Uninstalled AOL completely, rebooted, launched app,
surfed and emailed OK. On closing, the setup pg comes up
again as expected, but system is frozen and after a min
it then IPFs in GDI32.dll. Very little info on this one
as far as I've searched.

Should I attempt to replace GDI32.dll using SFC? Anyone
care to guess why it's bombing in the first place?

TU.

It's part of the video sub-system. You can try extracting a new copy using SFC. I
would look to first updating or reinstalling the video card drivers from the video
card maker's web site.

GDI32 errors are sometimes associated with printers. Try
re-installing the printer driver. Make sure there is a
default printer in the system.
