(Microphone) Bet ya can't figure this one

Ok, nobodys been able to help me with this.

Setup:
Creative AWE64 16-Bit Audio [SB16 compatible]
Creative AWE64 Wavetable MIDI [AWE32 compatible]
Creative Gameport Joystick
SoundFont MIDI Router

Alright, now my mic works through speakers but wont
record. Now i've heard so many people with this prob but
heres the thing. Its plugged in right, i have the Volume
Control set to record except that under my recording
properties the mute all button on recording is uncheckable
(grey'd out) and if I go to multimedia under control panel
my icon for recording and advaced properties is grey'd out
too. Now it says that my AWE64 Wave In [220] is my
prefered device but it won't let me let me do anything
else. LETS SEE IF SOMEBODY OUT THERE CAN HELP?!?! I give
many cojos to anybody that can.

thats great but mine doesn't.

You said that you have a problem with your microphone. You hear the sound,
but you can't record it.
Just do the following:
1- Double-Click on "Systray" which is beside your clock. Then click the
followings:
options-- properties-- recording--select-- Line in and Mic --unselect--
all the other choices-- Ok--select-- all the choices

Now close the panel and you're able to record your voice.
If it didn't work anyway, check if you have connected your mic into line-in
or mic hole. In either way, change its place.
