Win98 - XP File/Printer Sharing
I set up a Belkin Wireless G router hard-wired to an XP machine and w/ a
wireless adapter in an old 98SE machine upstairs. Internet browsing is fine on both but I hit a snag while trying to set up the home network. Walked thru the Network Setup Wizard fine on the XP machine but that machine does not have a floppy so I couldn't create a setup disk. I read that you could use the WinXP CD to do the setup on the 98 machine but when I tried it bombed with an app error - winxpchk - got the "Performed illegal operation and must shut down" message. What steps can I take to set up w/o a setup disk? TIA, Steve -- Steve Ragan |
