OTOH, most houses here (mine included) have central air conditioning

a couple of days. I am SO GLAD it didn't hit those temps when we
were in London. I melt in that type of heat.

Odd.....no mention of airfare to Torremolinos....sigh!!

At the moment I think springing the fair for a day trip to Brighton (about
60 miles by rail) might be pushing things a bit let alone a trip to a nice
quite village I know in Rhodes. Sorry but I don't fancy Torremolinos,
found it too commercialised 35 years ago so dread to think what it's like
now. :-)

BTW the cash shortage is in part due to being about to spring for a new
Toshiba Portege M300 PEN
(http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...ice=UK&ID=2329).
You can see a review at PCPro
(http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/68230...tege-m300.html). Main
criteria included weight 1.8Kh (say 4lb), decent battery life, built in
DVD writer and a 3 year warranty plus ruggedness - none of which comes
cheap. Can't think for the life of me why "I" need this but ......

Funny how you should say that Noel.

Many of the critical requirements were stipulated by the girls, especially
weight (1.7Kg) but also a Compact Flash card reader (my Nikon digicam)
and Secure Digital card reader (still photos and quicktime movies from
Bec's Canon MVX25I camcorder), firewire (camcorder), etc. DVD writer
(camcorder), etc. etc. My main requirement being to be left in peace.

Well!! I guess *boys and their toys* takes precedence over me going to
Spain, grin!!

Sounds good. I am seriously thinking of getting in line with the rest of
you and getting a new computer. Built by Willy, of course. I still haven't
phoned MDG (Mad Dog someone called them) and blasted them......won't get me
anywhere other than perhaps a reduced price on one of their new
machines....but I don't trust them anymore, sigh.

Cheers....the only one left just using WinME!!
