Default Internet Options General Tab is missing

Thanks Mike, that lavasoft program helped save IE for me.
Great tip. Great tool.

You've probably been hijacked.

This would be a good time to download yourself a copy of

the free Ad-Aware 6.0
from Lavasoft

(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also
SpyBot
Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and

use them to check your
system for other commercial parasites remembering that

they are only as good
as when you last updated their reference files. I also

use a program called
BHOCaptor (http://www.xcaptor.org) that checks for

unwanted Browser Help
Objects and SpywareBlaster
(http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html)

which can help prevent
some parasites getting a grip on your PC.

Then finally there is CWShredder
(http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip or
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip)

which is the best way
of getting rid of the many forms of the CoolWebSearch

hijacker details of
which can be found at

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html
and also http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/c/cws.asp.

If, after thoroughly checking your system and removing

all/any parasites
found, you still cannot access the General tab Go to

Kelly's Korner and
download the small file iegentabs.reg
(http://www.kellys-korner-

xp.com/regs_edits/iegentabs.reg). Right click and
merge with your registry and this should remove the

restrictions that have
been put in place by the hijacker that are preventing

your access to Internet
Options. Don't do this though until you've cleaned your

system and only if
this has not restored access to the General tab.

running ME and IE 6.0 SP1 and I cannot change my home
page, delete temp internet files or cookies as I do not
have the General Tab. When I select Tools - Internet
Options I see the Security - Privacy - Content...

panels.
Has IE been hi-jacked or have I inadvertently set a
security setting? - Thanks
