When you go into System Restore the first page that comes up will have the
options to either restore to a previous point or create a restore point, so
you put a dot into whichever option you want to take. Another page will load
where you write in a title for the restore point then tell it to proceed and
it will create the checkpoint with the title you gave it and the date and
time you made it.

I don't have my WinME fired up at the moment so I can't remember how you get
there I know on XP it's Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System
Restore.

If Mike sees this he'll give you all the info you will ever need for SR. g

Click the button to create a checkpoint and then when prompted enter
whatever text you like to identify the checkpoint. By clicking System
Restore | Create checkpoint you ARE creating a manual checkpoint - or you
are when you click next after entering your description.

You only need to make a manual checkpoint if you are going to make changes
to your system and are unsure whether those changes will, of themselves,
create a checkpoint. Note that the system should be automatically
creating a checkpoint roughly daily or every ten hours if the system is
left running.

You CANNOT create a System Restore point for an
earlier time.

You CANNOT create a System Restore point for ANY
date or time other than NOW!

The very first thing you need to do is give full details of a) what you
are trying to do and b) what happens when you do this. Remember you are
the only one who can see your screen so you need to post full details of
all messages, etc.

Two comments;
1). I'm reading that no restore points are being created, and if that's so,
then I would think that she needs to download the patch for SR (290700).
2). I think Serena is also saying that she doesn't know what description to
type in the open box when she attempts to do a manual system restore. If
that's correct Serena, you could simply type PRE X INSTALL or PRE X
UNINSTALL where X is the software you are installing or uninstalling.

Hope this helps.

One comment
I'm reading that for whatever reason serena has no restore points, and that
she is trying to manually create one to restore back to, which is not
possible.

Select "Create a restore point" and then type in the box: "System
CheckPoint", without the quotation marks. The system will do the rest,
unless something is missing. In that case you would have to follow Mike's
instructions carefully.

Harry.
