Default Changing windows Start Screen and Shut Down Screen

I saw some persons who had changed the appearance of their windows Start
screen or Shut down screen. For example when shutting down, instead of
seeing the message of "Windows is now shutting down" I saw a "Good Night"
message with a beautiful picture.

I asked one of them about how he did this. He thought a little and then said
I used "Microsoft Multimedia". I don't know either he was right or he just
didn't want to tell me the truth, but I have never seen a software called
"Microsoft Multimedia".

Do you know how we can change the start and shut-down pictures?

Thank you
Javad

Thanks all.
I could change logos.sys which appeared as my "Shut down" screen, but I
could find no logo.sys or logow.sys in my WinMe folder.

How can I change windows splash screen?

Thank you
Javad

Hi,

These will help:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article02-011
http://phish.marko.net/logo/change.html
http://www.webtechgeek.com/How-to-Ch...up-Graphic.htm

You must follow the instructions to the letter. The process is different
for XP, do a Google search for info on that.

Hi Javad,

From Ron Badours Tips Page
http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/tips_e_-_p.html

MODIFYING LOGO SCREENS. Three files, they may be hidden if you have that
option set in Explorer, comprise the start and shutdown screens. Logo.sys
(start screen) is in the C:\ directory either as its own file or it is
imbedded in the io.sys file. The imbedded file displays unless there is an
actual logo.sys file present in which case it displays. The logow.sys (wait
screen) and logos.sys (shut off screen) are located in the C:\Windows
folder. Remove the later two files and the first one if it is not the
imbedded one to a safe place so you don't overwrite them. Replacement
screens must be in a .bmp format, be sized or resized to 320 X 400 X 256
colors and renamed as the appropriate screen name. For animated logo
screens, see: http://www.nucleus.com/~kmcmurdo/win95logo.html Click here
to download a little application that randomly swaps logo screens at boot.

The Logo.sys (startup screen) is embedded into the io.sys file.
To replace it create a new .bmp image (as described in my
previous post to you) and place it in the root directory of C:\

The logos.sys is a hidden file located in the C:\windows folder.
Did you set your system to view hidden files?

Note: To view hidden files in Windows 98, click Folder Options
on the View menu in Windows Explorer, click the View tab, click
Show All Files, and then click OK.
Also make sure that the "Hide Extensions for Known File Types"
is deselected. This will help you in locating the files in Explorer.
