mouse moving to top left corner

I do NOT have Smart Move enabled yet suddenly my mouse now moves on its own either up to
top left corner or to the start button.

Does this sound like a virus?

Thanks Patty but the download was not for win98 and in keyboard properties I do not have
the pointer activity tab.

Any other suggestions as it is driving me batty!

In the far back recesses of my mind, I'm thinking that it might be a virus -
as you first suggested. I know that I've heard of another reason for this
but just can't get ahold of it right now. Suffering from CRS. g
