windows ME & critical updates

trying to get critical updates for my system. hoping that
will help with all the shutdown problems i have been
dealing with. every time i click to get critical updates,
i get a blank page with "done" shown on the bottom.
should i just bag this ME and get XP or is there more i
can do? using optonline and netscape 7.something!

Try using Internet Explorer to do the updating . Your shutdown
issues probably have _nothing_ to do with Critical Updates but
rather with the drivers you have installed for the video card.
Suggest you visit the manufacturer's website to see if they have a
later version out for it.
