HP LJ 1300
We recently purchased a new HP LJ1300 printer. We have it connected to a computer running Win 98 SE. Although it recognizes the printer and automatically installs the drivers for it, it only prints garbled lines. I can connect it to any non Win 98 computer and it prints fine from any application.
However, we need this printer connected to the Win 98 PC. We can not upgrade the operating system at this time. I have tried many suggestions from HP tech support to no avail. I have tried many different print drivers and spool settings to no avail. It is connected to a Compaq P3 500 MHz pc. Help !!!!! Has anyone run into this problem. It's either a Win 98 compatibility problem, which HP denies or with the Compaq hardware. Would a BIOS upgrade help. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

There are lots of support documents on the HP web site:
HP LaserJet Series Printers - Cannot Print or Problems Printing in Windows 95 or 98 (Parallel Connection) http://tinyurl.com/ysplw HP LaserJet 1150 and 1300 Series Printers - Garbled Text Prints Out http://tinyurl.com/2exfc The BIOS update is something you will have to determine by visiting your manufacturer's web page. -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://www.mvps.org/msauer/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Tim Garrett" wrote in message ... Thanks for the input. I had already tried the HP suggestions, but none has worked so far.
