No, those are the toy poodle pups, purebred all (6 of them at this
moment.) They'll never get to be bigger than 3.5 to 4 kilos. Ginger is an aging big dog who loves to run and prefers sub-zero weather. Northern Coyote is totally different from the desert kind I'm used to. (Scrawny, mangy devils, those are.) Saw a Northern Coyote on the Alaska Highway when I was sitting on the side of the road, taking a break. Looked like a giant 50 kilo red fox. Ginger (a male named for his color by the youngest when she was still quite young) came with the wife and two daughters I gained by marriage 7 years ago. They previously lived in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada (We met in a Yahoo! Chat Room.) -- Gary S. Mostly Me (MM)
I look at your headers. It shows you on Comcast. I read the Comcast is blocking some ports. I don’t know if Comcast can block the windows update site. You can use bigfix from http://download.bigfix.com/update/bf1760.exe Greg R |

Thanks for the information, Greg. That was my original question. So MM is
on Comcast using MSN while I am on Cox using Mozilla Firefox as my default browser with IE as a back-up and being used for accessing the Windows Update site. Gary I went ahead and took your advice about scripts so IE always asks me if I will allow it to run the scripts. Thanks for suggesting this because it allows me to have a better idea what is going on in my computer and if baddies have penetrated the defenses. I look forward to the day when I can use my computer to go on the offense and shut down these problematic computers. That would be really sweet, nice and juicy. LOL!! Yes!
Change epitaph to "Neglected To Follow Instructions". But a question: When I click Tshoot.inf I get a message to insert the Windows disk. To see what was going on I clicked skip, I believe it was, and the new box said failed to find bnts.dll. So I reinstalled Tshoot.inf again but this time when prompted to insert the disk navigated to bnts.dll (from where I store .cab files on the hard drive) and that took care of things. But my question is, is this normal procedure or is bnts.dll supposed to be integrated seamlessly into the install process? PCR wrote: I'm sure lots of popular music was stolen off classical music. They wait for copyrights to expire. That is a fitting epitaph for many of us: "It Is Now Safe To Turn Off Your Computer". Anyway, did you...?... "START button, Find, F&F, Tshoot.inf" R-Clk it & select "Install" That must be done once per IE cumulative, if you want your Troubleshooters. After that, either use my .reg's or Dundat's program. Of course, the install of Tshoot.inf could be exposing one to a vulnerability. Those .reg's only play with a kill bit, & likely do not undo the install. So, really you may wish to content yourself with... http://support.microsoft.com/support/windows/tshoot ...which also is the Troubleshooters. * Re Bindar Dundat: "Been there, done that" (alignment of planets, or just good writers?) * If you decide to spring for the Chausson you'll wind up detesting Richard Rogers, who lifted the melody for "Victory at Sea", note for note, like a pirate. Made a career of doing stuff like that. * And I suppose I should also mention that I couldn't get the Dundat Workaround to work this time. I did it two ways. First I downloaded the patches and then reinstalled the workaround over itself. When that didn't work, I reverted, deleted TShoot.exe, redownloaded, then installed TShoot anew, but that didn't work either. This is not the worst Windows problem I've ever had, in fact it's a relatively small one, but it's annoying that I couldn't get this thing to work beyond the initial installation. So I'm at a four-way crossroads: Updates with no Troubleshooter (not the worst thing that could happen), Troubleshooter with no updates (like 95% of the users, I'd bet), do the registry hacks (for more advanced users but "been there done that" enough to probably get through it) and, my preference, keep trying until TShoot.exe works. On my tombstone will be inscribed the NT4 chestnut: "It Is Now Safe To Turn Off Your Computer", if I can work out the intellectual property issues with Microsoft. \PCR wrote: Well, careful what you say. It is reported Dundat went on a sea voyage, & no one has seen him since in his original form. (Oh, I see, it was YOU I last posted this to.)... From... The Lied and Art Song Texts Page ...snip |
