startup for desktop
I have a computer in which when I startup the computer everything is fine
except after it finishes boots up and right before the desktop comes up the desktop bubbles comes on and then it changes to the desktop I have selected. Well I went through the msconfig and deleted the desktop bubbles but yet it keeps on coming back and also I have unchecked the box as well and this doesn't help cause the checked box is still checked after I click on apply;ok. I hope you can help me. |

If I am understanding "Desktop Bubbles" correctly, you are saying that when your desktop loads, you are first seeing the "Bubbles" wallpaper but is soon changes to the wallpaper that you have selected. If this is indeed what you meant... One thing you may try, 1 Find C:\Windows\Bubbles.BMP and rename it to something like: Bubbles-DISABLED.BMP 2 Restart 3 Problem Solved. If this is not the "Bubbles" you are refering to, try to be a bit more specific. ~Theta Sigma |

Theta the suggestion you gave C:\Bubbles-Disabled.BMP didn't work. Now I
didnt caplize the Disabled however I dont think that matters. Now there is two files Windows\Bubbles.BMP and Bubbles-Disabled.BMP. I also tried again to delete and unchecked the Windows file but that didnt work. Do you have any other suggestion. Thanks Billy Two questions: 1 What do you mean by "delete and unchecked the Windows file"? 2 Are you saying that something created a new Bubbles.bmp file after renaming the original? Try this first: START- RUN- type WIN.INI- Make a copy of it on your desktop using File- Save As- keep the name WIN.INI (for safety) Close the new copy of WIN.INI- Again, START--RUN--type WIN.INI Delete the entire [Desktop] entry (which will be 5 lines long, similar to below) and then copy and paste the following: -- START COPY -- [Desktop] Wallpaper=(None) TileWallpaper=0 WallpaperStyle=2 Pattern=(None) -- END COPY -- Save save this copy of WIN.INI using File - Save. Now restart. When you reboot, there should not be a wallpaper on your desktop at all. If that is true, excellent, now right-click on the desktop, select Properties, select the Background Tab, now choose your new wallpaper from the list or the Browse button. Click Apply & OK. See if that takes care of the problem. ~Theta Sigma |

I believe you need to boot to the default desktop - by clicking Cancel at
logon, or logging off then clicking Cancel - and reset the wallpaper there. Shane "Billy" wrote in message ... Theta the suggestion you gave C:\Bubbles-Disabled.BMP didn't work. Shane that sounds like the thing I shoud do to fix this however there is no
logon on when I start or reboot this computer. When I do start it, it just goes right into windows. I thought about Ctrl+Atl+Del but I don't think that will work with this computer. Theta Well I did exactly what you told me to do. I even back track on what
you told me and rethink the process and still the wallpaper Bubbles is still showing, we did not have this trouble before I had to format this computer cause of a virus and after that it did fine until one day I did something to this particular wallpaper and now it will not go away. Also in Win.ini this same desktop you told me to delete well that does't work it kept on coming back. Try this...
Boot the PC normally then log off (Start |Log off..... - if that option isn't available, then r-click on the Taskbar, and select Properties, Click on Advanced tab, and put a Checkmark in the 'Display Logoff' option - click OK and try again) then ESCape out of the logon that you're offered. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Billy" wrote in message ... Noel I have found that the computer does have the logon available at the
start button however that still doesn't work for my problem. There is no place to logon once you Boot the PC it automatically goes into windows. And the Bubbles just keeps on coming up as did before and then the selected wallpaper appears with the desktop icons. I did try your suggestion though and no luck. OK - have you been using Tweakui?
If so, there's an autologon entry there - switch it off I f not, then try removing the autologon key from the registry http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;141858 -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Billy" wrote in message ...
