Default D DRIVE NOT WORKING

I had the same problem, replaced drive and still nothing ,
any ideas
-----Original Message-----
Open the case and confirm that each cable end for the

troubled drive is
seated correctly.
Confirm that the drive will spin up on startup.
Use an inexpensive audio CD cleaning kit (disk) to clean

the drive's
head.

If the drive is detected at POST, and is displayed in

Windows File
Manager, but cannot be read or written, it may well be

defective.
Fortunately, a new drive is very inexpensive now, even

52X speed.
You may wish to upgrade to a DVD reader or a CD-RW now.

Try this
Boot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL DVD/CD drives
Remove ALL HD's
Remove ALL IDE Master Controllers
Remove ALL error-flagged devices
Remove ALL entries in the 'Other Devices' branch - if present
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall required drivers.

See if that helps
