file download box, downloads in binary code
Most things I can download with no problem. But
this "file download" box appears just for certain documments either on a web page or maybe an email attachment. It says "you have chosen to download a file from this location." Then it gives the name of the file. Example: "calander.pdf from www.beatricepublicschools.org" Then it asks "what would you like to do with this file?" And then you check either "Open this file from its location" or "save this file to disc" It has "OK, "Cancel," and "More info" buttons at the bottom. And anything I save originating from this box comes back to me in binary code. Any ideas? Any help appreciated. Bob K. -----Original Message----- What "file download box"? You need to install the correct application to read the file you've
downloaded. For example, PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader be present if you want to read them after downloading. -- Richard G. What specific file types: ZIP, RAR, SIT ? Is it just PDF ? If it is just this file type, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader either available from http://www.adobe.com or many software CDs/installation programs include an instalation file with a name like: ar505enu.exe, which stands for (I suppose) " Acrobat Reader version 5.05 ENglish User". Do a search on your comp for: AR*.exe A goo d place to search would be in the "Program Files" directory. -- Sincerely, | (©) (©) | ------ooo--(_)--ooo------ Andrew H.
