Default Bat File

Hi, i am new to networking and currently running a
workgroup network. i wanted to know what is a BAT file?

On the network which i am using, when the machines are
booting up they are looking for a .BAT file, which cannot
be found. I think i have found the relevant bat file on
the server, so how do i apply the changes on the local
machines so that they look for that particular bat file
which is on the server?

Also, out of interest how to i create a BAT file, which
can be used in a network, so that all computers use that
bat file for desktop settings etc? and how would i
implement that bat file on the server?

hopes this makes sense.

regards

A batch file (BAT) is nothing more than a series of does commands written in
a text editor like notepad and saved with a BAT file extension. When
executed these commands are run one at a time.

Many network adminstrators use batch files to run logon scripts to configure
user needs. These usually run from a domain controller and not likely being
used in a peer to peer or workgroup environment.

Steps to fix your specific problem would depend on the file that is being
executed and how your computers are configured to run it.
