Default CD DRIVES

CD drives have disappeared from the system. I've tried
reinstalling the hardware but no hardware is recognized.

Default CD DRIVES

Boot with a CD and a floppy start up disk in their respective drives--select
CDRom support. When the A: prompt appears, look above it to see what letter
is assigned to the CDRom drive. Then type that drive letter (i.e., D at
the A: prompt and hit enter. At the D: (or whatever letter you typed)
prompt, type: DIR and hit enter. If you can communicate with the CDRom
drive in DOS, it is OK. If you cannot, it is likely broken. You can pull
it out and try it in another PC just to make sure. If it works OK:

1. Do you have Tweak UI installed? If so, go to My Computer tab and put
marks in all drives.

2. Check for a lastdrive statement in the config.sys file and if it exists,
make sure it reads: lastdrive=z

3. Run regedit.exe and open it to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Setup

In the right pane, look for a last drive statement and if it is present,
make sure it reads "Z"

4. Control panel, system, performance tab: is there any comment about
MSDos compatibility mode?
