Default Line endings

There's a line ending symbol which looks like a curved arrow that occurs
whenever I receive a long document via email. What is it?

And, how do I convert it into a normal WORD line ending? In other words,
how do I "select" them in the "Replace" function and what do I replace them
with?

And, how do I change carriage returns in Word so they don't double-space
when converted to Outlook Express?

Thanks...

Phil

I think you mean a "manual line break".

Choose Edit/Replace. Put the cursor in the "Find" box, then click on
the "More" button at the bottom of the screen. Then click on the
"Special" button at the bottom of the screen. Then select "Manual line
break". You probably want to replace the line breaks with spaces. If
so, just locate the cursor in the "Replace" box and type a space.

And, how do I change carriage returns in Word so they don't double-space
when converted to Outlook Express?

OE converts each Word carriage return into two manual line breaks. I
have no idea why, nor do I know how to persuade OE to behave
otherwise.

You'd do better asking this in a Word newsgroup.

Isn't that a soft return as opposed to a hard return. Pressing the =
shift+enter produces it as opposed to pressing enter which produces a =
paragraph end.

Is this only when using Word to create/use/send email or even when =
copy/paste from Word to OE? I had that trouble before with copy/paste =
and Word dbl spacing after a paragraph, took care of it by changing a/or =
some setting/s, can't remember though since it's been quite awhile. I =
know it's in the options somewhere though.

The person who asked the question said he is using Word. Word calls
this a "manual line break".

Again, the person who asked the question said he is using Word. His
question was: "And, how do I change carriage returns in Word so they
don't double-space when converted to Outlook Express?"
