My 'bomblet' was: I made a FONT EXTRA folder and moved a lot of the fonts
that I don't use to it.

And you are right about the fonts on her photo attachment. That is what

BTW - Eileen, if all your other Windows look like the .jpg you've

YAHOO!! Got my Quick Launch Tool Bar back......making just a tad of
progress here. When you get your head together, I will run some stuff by
you.

I have been studying that added hidden file intensely and I moved the Quick
Launch Folder from it to the proper original *Application Data* one.....and
voila....with some fiddlin', got it back.....so I now have a half-assed idea
of what I have to do with this particular extra folder and subfolders....but
not about to get too aggressive until I back up some of my latest stuff.

But trying that little thing and having it work made me realize I sort of
understand what I have to do....if that makes any sense. (G) If the two
folders were identical, that would be easy....but they aren't. So I am
picking my way thru it. Most of it is from the failed install. But some of
the subfolders are current. Comprendez??

Cheers.....a slightly relieved Figgs

Mart,
I don't see anywhere to disassociate.

Eileen, I did cover myself with the "if the facility exists" get-out clause
g

However, you *might* be able to change the association in Folder Options \
File Types.

If the other two comments ('allow postscript file to override job options' &
"Never Embed") are options in Distiller, then I would suggest you try the
Distiller Help Page as I can't help you there either - I don't have
Distiller.

Now, back to your original problem g Greek Fonts.

Did you ever try looking in Display Properties | Appearance?

(Problem here is I'm using XP, which is 'slightly different' to WinMe - but,
I think that there is a facility to save, change and select a new Appearance
in WinMe, so you may wish to save the existing one first and experiment with
other styles)

If you play around in that option, you should find that you can change the
fonts, size and colours etc., for the various parts of a Window components,
e.g Active Title Bar, Selected Items, etc. And - I *think* that you *may*
even have an option to modify the 'buttons' font/size/colour.

Any further progress with the copy/change font name exercise?

As I said elsewhere, I'm rapidly running out of ideas. If the 'original'
fonts are missing/misplaced, then I doubt whether any amount of SR points
will restore them as I don't think that SR covers the font folder.

Is a clean install (ouch!!) completely out of the question?

Mart,
A few days back I went to Appearance and changed all the font to Tahoma.
Double checked today and without my permission, it had all changed to MS
Sans Serit (Western). I had 'applied' it so how could it have changed? Do
I have a virus?

I think I deleted all the Picasa.ini files.

I haven't had time to change the name of the font.
Thanks, Eileen

Eileen

If you change any item in a 'theme', applying is not
enough, you need to save the changes you have made to the theme,
and rename it to something else. Or it will just revert back to
the original theme on rebooting!

Forgive me again for a new post on an old problem. David & Mart are so
right. I got the new software for the HP PhotoSmart Scanner, installed it
and still have the same problem. I even un-installed Ad-aware before
installing this update.

HP called me and said that my FONTS Folder is corrupted and I should call
Microsoft to repair it. Or I could do it myself by deleting the contents

of
the Fonts Folder and copying from another PC that has ME and copying it to
my Folder.

I don't know about this. What do you say.

Thanks, Eileen
