Default Blue Screen Errors

I am contiually getting this error, and having to hard boot the computer. I
have packed away the original OE Windows ME CD, so it has been frustrating
since i can't find it. Heee is the issue, and I have tried everything to get
this going. UNinstalling, installingsoftware, Norton Systemworks, Registry
Fixes.. you name it, and it still comes up.

This is the error: VMPCD (01) + 0000061C Error : OD : 0028 : C00582C8

Love for some help.

It would appear that VMPCD is associated with a Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro
video adapter (or equivalent). I would suggest you try the following MS
Knowledge Base article and see if that helps :-

Default Blue Screen Errors

HI

I have found that Windows ME will often me a blue screen when spyware is
present in the system.

I suggest running AD-Aware SE personal first.

Next run a registry Check with Symantec's Windoctor or favorite utility.

If this fails;
Locate your Device driver Floppies & cds

Boot into safe mode and check for Phantom Device Drivers in the Device
Manager.
(Duplicate driver listing that are not shown in the device manager when
booted normally)

if Phantoms are present delete one or both and then reboot & re install
driver(s).

You could also try replacing the System.Dat file in the windows directory
with the System.1st file located in the Root directory (usually c:\).
Replacing the system.dat file must be done from DOS though. Both files are
Hidden.

Attrib -r -s -h system.dat

I suggest renaming the old file instead of copying over it.

The System.1st file is created during the Windows Install. so you Will
probably have to re-install some or all programs.

Hope this helps
